Abstract:
The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is responsible for operating Australia’s largest gas and electricity markets and power systems.
AEMO’s annual Gas Statement of Opportunities (GSOO) reports on the adequacy of eastern and south-eastern Australian gas markets to supply maximum daily demand and annual consumption over a 20-year outlook period.
The 2017 GSOO reports on the effects of declining gas production on forecast supply shortfalls and the possible impacts on gas prices.
This presentation will highlight the increasing interdependencies of gas and electricity for reliable supply of energy, and the importance of planning across the entire energy supply chain to deliver energy security and maintain reliable supplies to consumers.
