Abstract:
This presentation describes experience gained from the practical application of Predictive Analytics from proof-of-concept to a fully automated, end-to-end production system.
It will discuss the essential elements of turning Predictive Analytics (and more broadly, Data Science) from a technical opportunity into a business-focused operational system that is used to deliver substantial ongoing benefits, including safety, environmental, cost and production.
Emphasis will be given to practical lessons learned in applying Predictive Analytics to a real operational environment across a full-scale mature basin. The intent is to dispel some of the prevailing ‘myths’ - both technical and cultural - around Data Science and its application to Oil and Gas. Furthermore, it will show that a targeted approach by an internal team can deliver significant business value in a short space of time.
The presentation will outline the implementation and evolution of the applied operation analytics capability within a mid-tier independent Oil and Gas company, Santos.
